Slipshot++

We've got some great news on the Slipshot front, but first I'd like to offer some clarification about why we have a few unfinished titles still lingering. For those of you that have been following us closely, you know that I took on a job that doesn't allow me to work for Greater Good Games anymore. This meant that Noah was going to have to find someone to pick up the programming side of things on It Hungers and Swipe Attack. He did find a few people, but reliable programmers tend to not work for the possibility of future pay on any projects that are not their own, so there has been little to no progress on that front. I'd love to just finish up those titles, but as soon as I touch them again, my employer could seize ownership of them. Consequently, I started looking at doing new side projects, which brings us to Slipshot.

The good news about Slipshot is that Noah is now able to join in on the project thanks to a "Side Project Exception Agreement" that my employer was nice enough to work on with me. Another positive outcome of this agreement is that I can make a full-fledged polished game project, put it up for sale, and just pay some royalties off it to Metamoki. In light of this, I decided to really analyze the Cube 2: Sauerbraten engine and I have found it to be insufficient for a retail game. Discussions with Noah led to deciding on the Source engine with the intent of working out some sort of licensing agreement with Valve at some point, pending we have a successful Kickstarter campaign. We have also brought Oliver back onto the project, who has done some art for us on Swipe Attack. We have also carried over Ossian who was the only artist working on the Cube 2 version of the game. We are now 4 members strong and hard at work putting together a much better version of Slipshot.

This also means that we're not planning on publicly releasing the Cube 2 version of Slipshot, but if you'd like to give the concept a whirl with me, just drop us a line: contact@greatergoodgames.org

Hello to all @ GGG,

Just been reading through a few of your posts and it sounds awesome what you guys are doing! I'm programming in C++ and Pawno at the moment currently as I've been developping a GTA:SA server over the last 2 years or so now. I really enjoy programming and it's awesome to see stuff working. I found you through the Tripwire forums whilst checking up on something to do with one of my Killing Floor game servers. I run a multi gaming community UK1337 come check us out some time. I'll definitely be checking some of your games out guys you sound really passionate about your work and I'm a sucker for the arcade type games I think they're the best!

There's one game I got really addicted to back in the day and I'd still play it now for hours. Maybe you could make a game like it but cooler? You had for example a castle and stick men would attack you in waves and the waves got harder. As you killed each stick man you got money and depending on what kind of stick man it was you got more or less money. You could upgrade your castle and buy units and stuff to help defend your castle from the waves of stick man. You should totally give that a try! Sorry if I'm talking in the wrong section I couldn't find a General Chat just for anything or an Off Topic section on your forum.

Good luck with the projects any how guys I'll check up on your forum again soon. Peace!
Stoney

Stoney, I'm sorry it took over 2 months to approve your post! I'm still getting used to the moderation system on here and I assumed it would tell me if there were new posts needing approval by adding a little icon on the Board Index, but apparently it doesn't if it's a response to an existing thread! Will do better in the future.

Always great to meet a fellow programmer and game enthusiast! We are definitely full of passion and prefer to make arcadey "games for gamers" as we put it. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to expand our already huge list of upcoming games at this time, but it sounds like an awesome game!

Welcome to the forum and I hope you'll come back, despite my failure! :D
